Human Trafficking is a growing concern for our community. Did you know that North Carolina is ranked in the top 10 states for human trafficking violations? Numerous medical organizations have endorsed the need for training healthcare professionals. One study found that 87.8 percent of survivors had contact with a health care professional while being trafficked (Lederer & Wetzel, 2014). Medical providers are one of the few professionals that a victim is permitted to interact with while being actively controlled. This can be an opportunity for an intervention.
Would you be able to identify victims if they came through your office/facility? If you could identify them, would you know the next step in the plan of care?
We would like to offer our team of trainers, free of charge, to teach you and your staff how to recognize victims and how to assist in a trauma-informed and patient-centered approach. We have arranged several Saturday dates for a free of charge Human Trafficking 101 training if you or any other staff members are interested. A second conference will be offered in June 2017 for a look Beyond Human Trafficking 101.
Event is free. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to save your spot!
